Inspired by his performance background as a circus clown, puppeteer and Adler-trained actor, Richard’s directing work favors the vibrantly theatrical, often setting disparate performance styles and traditions against each other. He was co-founder and director of Misery Loves Company, an international performance collective, based in Prague. While there, he produced and/or directed over 25 productions including the Eastern European premiere of Angels in America and an original adaptation of King Stag, co-produced with Czech company Divadlo Kaspar. He has taught theater and directed at The Polytechnic Institute of NYU, Brooklyn College, Hunter College, The American University of Prague, The New York Film Academy and The School for Film and Television.
